Break a Leg

artsnervosa_01.jpg
Here are all parts of the Pepper Moth Players, an independent theater group that wants to do their own thing and not have the politics that are associated with some of the major theater groups in the Upstate.

This was a general assignment for a feature story.

Oops

springstreet_06.jpg
What a way to start the day. On my way to work this morning I ran (not literally) into this scene. A little last minute spot news. Oh yeah, no injuries, if you can believe that. Here's how the caption read:

Corporal T. M. Pearson with the Greenville Police Department said there were only minor injuries in a car wreck that happened on the corner of Spring Street and East Washington Street in downtown Greenville Tuesday morning February 27, 2007.

NBA Cover for Link

blog_bball.jpg
Here's my exit cover for Link, the last one I will be sent out to shoot. An NBA marketing woman who I think will end up being a Sweet Job feature.

Simple really, one light, a reflector and me on a ladder.

Electronic Love

02_with_dropshadow.jpg
This is something I shot in the studio last week for the Valentine's Day Issue. The story was about couples who meet online. The bottom mouse is wired and the top mouse is a wireless. I had to tape the cord into the heart shape with scotch tape. After shooting it I brought into Photoshop, cut it out and added the drop shadow.

Synthetic Water

water_0001.jpg
I was looking for some "Where in the Upstate" photos today, a little thing Link does to give away prizes, a sort of do you know where this photo was taken contest. And I ran across this manmade water fall. I shot it hand held at 1/6 of a second and think it turned out pretty well considering.

Casual Living

pedigo_ic_01.jpg
I shot this last week for a magazine called Casual Living. They contacted me through the newspaper and asked if I could do a little spread for them. Of course I can. These guys either work or own the place. I had to do a few portraits and a ton of inside shots.

New Beginnings

Here's a new portrait. I set the lights up and a friend of mine shot it on Friday February 16, 2007.

Let's just say after many months, a ton of emails, and two 12-hour-round-trip drives, I past the audition.

Starring - Jason Farr

So, by now most of you, those that read this blog anyway, know that Clooney and Zellweger are filming the movie "Leatherheads" here in Greenville. Well, as always, Link is going to capitalize on the hottest story of the week (or in this case, year). So meet Jason Farr. Farr is a regular to the pages of Link and I knew he would be perfect for illustrating our cover on "Movies". There's a shop downtown here called Hollywood Collection and the owner had an old-school clapper he was kind enough to let us use. Here are two of my favorites from the shoot. We'll have to wait and see what the editors pick is.

I’m not a Paparazzi

movie_star_02.jpg
Dear Ms. Zellweger,

I wanted to apologize for sitting outside Starbucks in downtown Greenville this morning and waiting for you to come out so that I could take some photos of you. It's not my intention to make you or Mr. Clooney feel uncomfortable while you bring Hollywood into or little town; but as you now know, I am staffed by the local newspaper and it is my job to photograph you if I see you. I understand your need for privacy, after all, that's why you went to Starbucks, and I hope you understand I’m only trying to make a living.

Also, my co-worker, Ana, you met her this morning as well, she feels really bad too. I think she may quit her job over this.

Sincerely,
Ian

Greenville Drive

baseball_kapler_lowres.jpg
Gabe Kapler was introduced as the new Greenville Drive manager and Link was on the scene working on an April cover.

So I have Kapler wearing this short-sleeve shirt, in 35-degree weather, juggling, in hopes that is will look like a spring day. What do you think?

Fear No Art

fearnoart_lowres.jpg
This was a way to try and fill a creative void I've had for a few months now. There wasn't a lot going on this morning at work so I decided to go into the studio and play with light. I was looking around the office for something that could be the subject of my little still-life creative plunge when I remembered this coffee cup my brother brought me back from Chicago – it was already stuffed with these pens and markers. I like it but still need more before I’m satisfied creatively.

A Real Snow Day

stairs.jpg
So Greenville has a little snow day yesterday and I was out shooting in it for the newspaper. This was one of my favorite shots from the day and it doesn't even have snow in it. These girls where at a local high school football stadium climbing the stands and then sledding down the hill.

See more of my snow photos by going here and here.
